Embracing the Customs and Culture of the Digital Native 
Digital Natives in the College Classroom: Assumptions and Facts

Michelle Manafy and Heidi Gautschi, editors, and Jami L. Carlacio, contributor, to the book Dancing with Digital Natives: Staying in Step with the Generation That's Transforming the Way Business Is Done, will provide some insights into the nature of this generation and present perspectives on how to effectively engage digital natives as they enter our institutions.

Redefining New Media Literacies: Promises and Possibilities in Teaching and Learning

Jami L. Carlacio leads the Global and Distance Learning Strategic Initiative at the Center for New Media Teaching and Learning at Columbia University. She will discuss various methods of utilizing new media literacies to improve the learning process, as well as interesting practical examples of how the advent of various technologies have improved pedagogy.

Think...Then Google

Tasha Bergson-Michelson, MLIS, a Google Search Educator, will explore how to most effectively use Google search tools to create lifelong learners, by improving the research process. Tasha will answer common questions about using Google Search as a tool to improve student scholarship and have more productive research interviews.
